Determined to move on from Mr. B.Charlie, who ended up admitting he had spent Valentine's week with his ex, I decided I needed some distraction. Most women would want to crawl into bed, hide under the covers or eat comfort food while flicking through Marie Claire. I am no different to be honest. Except that I am not exactly like most women of my age, I have a six year old son who refuses to watch Bridget Jones diary for the third time.
- 'Aww mummy! Not again!'
After much deliberation and compromise, Elliott and I agreed on watching Harry Potter. At this stage anything was better than Bob the builder I have to say. I had not anticipated having to watch the whole film series though, therefore I limited the Harry Potter experience to one film a day. Watching Voldemort trying to kill Harry for eight consecutive evenings definitely helped put my emotional distraught into perspective. Mr. B. Charlie was no mass murderer after all.
Most women would spend money on their image after a break up. A much needed boost to our self-esteem would include getting new clothes, a manicure or a new haircut. This is exactly what I did! I revamped my wardrobe and more! In fact I spent exactly 260 pounds in House of Fraser this afternoon. If I count all the money I have spent since last saturday night, I come to a total of 552 pounds. That's without counting the money I am planning on spending on drinks at the week-end. Being single and heartbroken turns out being really expensive! Where did the rest of my money go? Mostly spent in coffee shops, restaurants and Ikea. I am not sure if I should consider myself fortunate or unfortunate enough to be living beside the biggest Ikea in Europe. I have accumulated lamps, throws, cushions and candles....for all those romantic nights I am going to spend with my glass of wine and my cat.
My six year old has been my comfort blanket lately. Much to his delight in fact. Elliott has been allowed to sleep in my bed nearly every night. He's been eating out most days. He's received unexpected gifts and treats. He's been out riding his bike nearly every day. He's watched every Harry Potter . He's helped me finish the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, the bag of crisps, the tin of cookies and the tube of jelly beans.
He wishes mummy could stay heartbroken forever.
